Amazon FireStick Setup Tutorial
Now that you’re all set, let’s begin!
Follow the instruction given below to set up your Amazon Fire TV Stick for the first time. We have split the setup method into four corresponding sections to make things easier for you.
Part 1: Getting Started
Step 1: Get your Fire TV Stick Device. You’ll see a micro-USB port and an HDMI there. Plug the USB power cord into the micro-USB port of the FireStick and secure the other end of the power cord into the Power Adapter.
Step 2: Then, attach the Power Adapter to a power outlet. (Note: Remember that some TVs accept the Power Adapter and not the powered USB Ports).
Step 3: Now plug your FireStick into any HDMI port on your TV. Please remember the HDMI Port number as you’ll now be asked to turn ON the corresponding HDMI input Channel on your TV.
Step 4: Switch ON your TV and open the similar HDMI input Channel. You’ll see a loading window with the Fire TV Stick logo. It might take a while to load for the first time, so don’t worry.
Step 5: Now, it’s time to set up the FireStick remote. First of all, add the two AAA batteries involved in the box.
The remote would automatically pair up with the FireStick, though; if it doesn’t pair on its own, just touch and hold the Home switch on the remote for 10 seconds. It will shift your FireStick to the Discovery Mode, and the pairing process is over.
Once you have paired the remote with FireStick, touch the Play or Pause button to begin the set-up process.
Step 6: The FireStick will now ask you to pick your favored language. Highlight the required language utilizing the navigation markers on the remote and touch the Select/OK button on the remote to set the language.
Important: Select/OK is the round button on the remote included inside the navigation keys.
Part 2: Connect Amazon Fire Stick to Wi-Fi
Step 7: The FireStick will now look for the available Wi-Fi networks inside the range. When you see the listing of the networks, select your Wi-Fi, and insert your SSID and password to connect.
Part 3: Register Fire TV/Stick using an Amazon Account
Step 8: Now, it’s time to register your gadget to your Amazon account. If you have bought your Amazon Fire TV Stick from Amazon, it arrives pre-registered.
Though, if that’s not the case or if you want to register by a different Amazon account, you can follow the on-screen guidance to Register or De-register the Fire TV.
If your FireStick is not pre-registered, you will see the following screen. Let’s presume you have an Amazon account, then, proceed forward, and choose the first option. If not, make an Amazon account first by clicking on this option: I am new to Amazon.
Step 9: Your FireStick will now register the device. Wait for some moments.
Part 4: Finishing Up the Setup Process
Step 10: When the registration process is over, FireStick will ask if you want to save your Wi-Fi password to your Amazon account.
If you handle multiple Amazon devices registered to the same Amazon account as FireStick, it would be a great idea to select Yes to enable those devices to connect to your Wi-Fi network instantly. If you don’t have any other Amazon devices and don’t even think about buying one in the future, you might just as well choose No.
Step 11: If you want to allow Parental Controls on your FireStick, click on the Enable Parental Controls option on the following screen. If you do so, the system will request you to set up a PIN on the next screen. You will then need to insert the PIN for most actions on FireStick.
If you don’t want Parental control, click No Parental Controls to continue.
Step 12: You can now click on Get Started and select the apps/streaming services you want to install before getting started with FireStick. If you want to install them afterward, select No Thanks.
Let’s say you have a FireStick 2nd Gen with no TV control switches on your remote. This is all you need to do to set up your device.
If you have the latest FireStick with TV control keys, continue with Part 5 here.
Part 5: Pair FireStick Remote with TV
The next steps are only for Remotes with TV controls. If you don’t own a remote with volume buttons, you can skip this segment and move to the following section.
Step 13: When you see this screen, click on the Next tab.
Step 14: Touch the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on your remote.
Make sure the remote aims at the TV. The TV control switches use the IR profile for your TV. Hence, your TV and remote need to be in the range of sight for TV control functions to operate.
Step 15: Click on the Yes tab if you heard the tone. If not, click NO to repeat the method.
Step 16: When your Fire TV remote has successfully synced, you will see the following note on the TV screen.
That’s it! You are all set to start streaming.
